This summer, I returned to chess. Not to win, not for performance, just for the pleasure of finding this particular silence that settles in front of a chessboard, this moment when the mind arises and when something else begins to observe. Part after game, an intuition imposed itself on me, almost in spite of myself: this game is not only about strategy. He talks about us. of our energy, of our blockages, of our path.
I immersed myself in its history, in its symbols, and the more I advanced, the more the correspondences with my work, magnetism, hypnosis, geobiology, jumped out at me. So I wanted to share this reading with you, in my own way, that of Wellforlife: energy, embodied, without dogma.
A checkerboard, an energy field

Chess was born in India about fifteen centuries ago, under the name Chaturanga. Long before being a competitive game, it was already a miniature world map.
64 boxes, alternating black and white. Nothing to do with good against evil, as is too often believed. It is the polarity itself that is represented, the same principle as the tiling that I find in certain initiatory traditions, or that I sometimes feel in the energetic field of a person in session: shadow and light, yin and yang, rest and Movement. Not opposites to fight. Forces to circulate.
64 is also 8×8, and 8 is the number of equilibrium and the infinite circulation of energy, the one found lying in the symbol of infinity. And if we push the numerology a little further: 6+4=10, then 1+0=1. Multiplicity always brings back to the One. This is exactly what I see in the office: behind the complexity of a blockage, an emotion, a symptom, there is always a single thread that leads back to the center of the person.
The King: Your Center, Your Vital Field
The king does almost nothing. He moves slowly, one square at a time, and yet the whole part rests on him. You can lose almost all your pieces and continue to play. If we lose the king, everything stops.
This is exactly what I see in energy work. The king is your vital center, your anchor, this stable core that I seek to strengthen in magnetism when I work on the circulation of the bioelectric field. It’s not the most spectacular piece. It is the one without which nothing holds. Taking care of your energy is not running after each shiny box of the chessboard, it is protecting this center.
The lady: your creative energy

The lady goes everywhere. It unites the power of the tower and the finesse of the madman. She builds, she protects, she opens up possibilities where everything seemed closed.
It is the perfect image of this creative energy that I often awaken in my patients in Ericksonian hypnosis session, this part of themselves who already knows, intuitively, where to go, but who needs to be given back space to circulate freely. Each of us wears an inner lady. The question is not to create it, but to stop bridging it.
The towers: your foundations
War tanks at the origin, which have become fortifications over time, the towers advance straight, without detour. They embody stability, structure, this base on which any lasting transformation must be based.
In geobiology, I constantly check it: we cannot build a solid well-being on an unstable energy ground. The towers are your foundations, your place of life, your sleep balance, your anchoring rituals. Without them, even the most beautiful intention slips away.
The rider: the intuition that jostles
The only piece to jump over the obstacles, the rider moves in L, against any apparent logic. He reminds us that a true inner transformation is never perfectly linear.
I see it almost at each session: sometimes, only one realization, a single click during a hypnotic trance, comes to light up suddenly what we have been trying to understand for a long time. It’s not that the path traveled before did not count, it’s that there comes a time when everything finally connects. The rider, it is this intuition that dares the detour, the shortcut that reason alone would not have borrowed.
The madman: see differently
It’s my favorite piece since this summer, and I think it’s no coincidence, given my job. Originally an elephant in the Indian game, it has become in the West this almost spiritual piece which only moves diagonally.
The vertical evokes the elevation. the horizontal, the daily. The diagonal connects the two, exactly the bridge that I seek to create between the subtle world and the concrete in my work as a magnetizer. The madman does not choose between matter and spirit. He advances between the two, discreetly, bypassing what blocks the direct passage.
And then there is this detail that I loved rediscovering: each madman remains the whole part on a single box color. Alone, it is limited. Together, the madmen cover the whole chessboard. None of us alone hold the whole truth on their own energy path. It is the meeting of looks, yours, that of a therapist, that of a loved one, which widens the field of possibilities.
The pawns: the humility that transforms

And then there are the pawns. The most modest, the most exposed, those who are sometimes sacrificed without thinking about it.
Yet they are the ones who carry, in my eyes, the most accurate message. A pawn advances one square at a time, humbly, without ever burning the steps. And if it holds up to the other end of the chessboard, it can turn into the most powerful piece in the game.
This is the whole philosophy of Wellforlife, in reality: we do not change a life, an energy field, a diagram installed for twenty years, in a snap of the fingers. We advance box after box. A session, an awareness, an adjustment at a time. And one day, often without being seen coming, the transformation is there.
A game that is especially played in us

This is what this summer has given me, between two parts: the certainty that the adversary, on the chessboard as in life, is almost never in front of us. He is in us. Our fears, our resistances, our old patterns.
The king reminds us to remain faithful to our center. The lady awakens our creativity. The towers build our stability. The rider dares intuition. The madman invites us to change our way. And the pawn teaches us, with disarming humility, that every little step counts as much as the final victory.
The real failure, ultimately, is not to lose a game. It is to move forward in your life without ever trying to know yourself.
So the next time I sit in front of a chessboard, I’ll know that I’m not just playing against an opponent, I’m playing, once again, better meeting myself.
